Viet Nam Cleaner Production Centre is located at the
Hanoi University of Technology,
under its host organization:
Institute for Environmental Science and Technology, INEST.
With INEST as host, VNCPC has good access to support staff,
laboratory facilities, and a network covering the whole the country.
Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre was established on 22 April 1998
within the framework of the project VIE/96/063, signed by the
Ministry of Education and Training
(MOET) and the United
Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). Funding
for the centre activities is provided by the Swiss Government
through the State
Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
Viet Nam Cleaner Production Centre is a member of the UNIDO/UNEP
network of national cleaner production centres and is linked to the
Institute of Environmental
Technology at FHBB in Switzerland as a long-term
counterpart. Through this, Viet Nam Cleaner Production Centre has
access to the most up-dated sources of information on cleaner
production, and furthermore, is in close contact with international
experts on cleaner production. The United Nations Industrial
Development Organization (UNIDO) is the Executing agency of the
centre.
In 2002, the centre was certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for
its Integrated Management System. The system was re-audited and
renewed in 2005 as planned.

Viet Nam Cleaner Production
Centre has four main activities:
As part of these activities
the Centre is providing a range of cleaner production services
to industries and to organizations that want to provide cleaner
production services.
The
purpose of the in-plant demonstration projects is to show how
cleaner production can be implemented in Viet Nam and to provide
opportunities for hands-on training of industry personnel. Viet
Nam Cleaner Production Centre assists the companies in identifying
environmental problems, developing cleaner production options
and selecting feasible options for implementation.
The purpose of the
training activities is to build up the national capacity on cleaner
production. Our training is practical, hands-on training, combined
with theoretical inputs.
The purpose of our
information activities is to create awareness of the advantages
of cleaner production and thereby create a market for cleaner
production.
The purpose of our
policy advice is to assist policy-makers in developing an efficient
