Under the contract \u201cConsulting services for conducting a study on the value chain for transforming agricultural by-products into ecological products in the Northwest, Central Highlands and Mekong Delta regions\u201d, Vietnam Cleaner Production Centre Co., Ltd. (VNCPC) conducted field survey activities in three key regions of Vietnam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The survey activities were carried out to collect practical information on the current status of generation, collection, preliminary processing, utilization and commercialization of agricultural by-products such as rice straw, rice husks, cassava residues, coffee husks and pulp, coconut fiber and many other biomass sources. This provides an important basis for assessing the potential to develop value chains that transform agricultural by-products into ecological products in a circular, low-emission and environmentally friendly manner.<\/p>\n

During the survey, VNCPC\u2019s team of experts worked directly with enterprises engaged in utilizing agricultural by-products to create value-added products. The survey focused on raw material purchasing and supply capacity, operational scale, processing and preliminary treatment technologies, storage conditions, ability to meet raw material quality requirements, as well as investment needs and challenges related to markets, finance, certification and production scale-up.<\/p>\n

VNCPC worked directly with enterprises engaged in utilizing agricultural by-products to create value-added products. <\/em><\/p>\n

The initial survey results show that Vietnam has great potential to develop value chains that transform agricultural by-products into ecological products and circular materials. Many enterprises have begun applying technologies and innovative production models to make effective use of agricultural by-product resources, contributing to waste reduction and the creation of new economic value.<\/p>\n

However, effectively harnessing this potential requires close coordination among raw material suppliers, manufacturing enterprises, innovation actors and other stakeholders in the value chain. Some key challenges identified include the seasonal nature of raw material sources, fragmented supply chains, limited market linkages and difficulties in accessing finance for investment in production scale-up.<\/p>\n

Through the field survey activities, VNCPC will continue to consolidate and analyze data in order to develop an overall picture of agricultural by-product supply, actors in the value chain, capacity gaps and enterprises\u2019 support needs. The research results will provide a basis for finalizing the project design, identifying appropriate objectives and proposing solutions to promote the development of ecological product value chains from agricultural by-products in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
