Provision of services for identification and arrangement of meetings with key biochar actors in Viet Nam

Since 2018, Husk Ventures has cooperated with VNCPC as one of the international partners participating in the implementation of the UNIDO pyrolysis project. In 2024, with financial and strategic support from Mekong Capital, Husk Ventures expanded its market and established a branch in Vietnam to promote the production and distribution of biochar. This package was implemented to support Husk Ventures in gaining deeper insights into the biochar market in Vietnam, providing important information to help the company develop a sustainable expansion strategy and optimize business opportunities in this field.

Services implemented:

• Review and compile a list of key stakeholders in the biochar sector in Vietnam: Based on VNCPC’s partner network and resources inherited from the previous pyrolysis and biochar project funded by UNIDO and SECO, 50 organizations from various sectors, including research institutes, universities, non-governmental organizations, government agencies and the private sector operating in the biochar field across the country, were identified;
• Coordinate with Husk Ventures to analyze and select target organizations for outreach and further information collection. 10 organizations, mainly organizations and funds supporting sustainable development initiatives in Vietnam and organizations implementing biochar applications in sustainable farming, were selected for the next connection activities;
• Introduce and connect Husk Ventures with target organizations through introductory emails and by sharing organizational materials as well as proposing online discussion sessions; and
• Organize online meetings to exchange information and explore cooperation opportunities. 6 meetings were conducted, helping open up potential cooperation opportunities for developing Husk Ventures’ biochar market in Vietnam.
